About - UWyo CEA

In 2024, Kyle joined a team at the University of Wyoming to study Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA). The main purpose of this research was to use inexpensive, and accessible materials to produce a perfect growing environment for crops. All of this is controlled by an AI model using Neural Networks, and an array of sensors. The AI model can make decisions on how to best care for a plant based on the data gathered. Several systems are then automated, such as watering so that the crops aren’t over-watered or under-watered. Kyle presented his findings to a group of experts in the field, at the University of Wyoming. Kyle was even offered a job based on his work, although he declined.

The system uses a Jetson Orin to collect data, and control objects such as water pumps, then uses a separate distributed computing system that runs the AI model to make decisions.

Through this work, Kyle also had an internship with Plenty Unlimited, While separate from his previous research, there certainly was similarities which proved to be useful.
